If there’s one thing I’ve learned in nearly a decade as a learning and development
adviser, it’s that **a habit of learning drives success, for both businesses and
individuals.**

Whether you’re an owner, manager, or team leader looking to upskill your staff or
just someone who wants to make the most of your professional development to climb
the next rung on the career ladder, learning is the key to getting there.

Fortunately, we have a wealth of digital learning opportunities and technologies
at our fingertips, with new resources being developed all the time. However, many
people never acquire the skills or strategies needed to effectively use or develop
digital learning. They get stuck with less efficient methods. Why? Because of the
intimidation and confusion that self-directed learning and learning technology can
entail.

### **That’s where I come in as a digital learning consultant.**

I’ve spent more than 20 years turning my childhood fascination with digital technology
into a rewarding career, building effective learning resources from scratch and
helping people maximise their training, apply what they’ve learned, and have a good
time doing it.

This is me

I work with businesses and organisations to help them develop digital learning that
works and with individual professionals who want to make the most of digital opportunities
in their own learning.

Throughout my career, I’ve heard my clients express frustration about spending precious
time trying to figure out learning technology on their own, just to end up discouraged
and demoralised. That’s why I’m so passionate about what I do — it’s deeply rewarding
to be able to clear those hurdles out of the way so my clients can focus on what
they came to do: **transfer information from a computer screen into real world performance
improvement.**

Some of my career highlights (so far) include nearly a decade of service as a learning
and development adviser for the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). I also
spearheaded the SSSC Open Badges programme, a learning technology project that pioneered
a new approach to continuous professional development within the social services
sector. I’ve spoken at several learning and development conferences in the UK and
published articles in professional and trade journals. In 2019, I was honoured to
be named _Training Journal_’s L&D Professional of the Year.

As an award-winning digital learning consultant, my services include:

 * Needs analysis and action mapping
 * Digital learning design and development
 * Design and implementation of Open Digital Badges programmes
 * Consulting and advice
